How does it work?
Llusern rapid COVID-19 test is based on innovations around molecular biology, electronic design and smart algorithmics. The key principle is based around the well understood process of Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification of DNA and RNA (LAMP) which has been miniaturised for low cost point of care applications.
How fast is the test?
Llusern rapid COVID-19 test takes between 20 to 30 minutes to output the results, making it about 50 times faster than 24h-turnaround target of current PCR based strategy. Each individual device can test 6 samples simultaneously.
How much does it cost?
Llusern rapid COVID-19 test is designed with point of care usage and affordability in mind. The device unit cost is estimated to be under the £600 mark making it an order of magnitude cheaper than comparable devices. The cost of consumable testing strips will be under £15 per individual test.
When will the Llusern Rapid COVID-19 test product be available for users?
Llusern rapid COVID-19 test is currently being technically and clinically validated to ensure it meets EU and MHRA medical device requirements. The process is expected to be completed in mid-January 2021 with units available for point of care users immediately after.
